I have been running MoretoSIPPs for over six years. During that time I have provided consultancy services to a wide range of businesses including SIPP & SSAS providers, wealth managers, life companies, investment platforms, a precious metals broker, other consultancies and venture capitalists. I have been retained as a SIPP expert witness by a number of legal firms. I have advised on the sale and purchase of SIPP businesses–this included providing a valuation for the vendor–which was very close to the price actually achieved. I have also advised several businesses on their strategic options including preparing business and sales and marketing plans.

All of this work has involved some aspect of the SIPP and individual pensions market along with the associated decumulation markets- areas in which I have had first hand experience with four different SIPP providers at chief executive and senior management level.

The continuing growth in these markets has attracted increasing regulatory scrutiny and it seems unlikely that these trends will change at least in the short term. MoretoSIPPs is able to offer unrivalled experience and expert advice on a range of disciplines, including entry and exit strategies, merger and acquisition work, product design and pricing, outsourcing, operational efficiency, technical guidance, financial management, distribution and overall business strategy.

However please note the business is not authorised to advise individuals.

Particular areas where I believe MoretoSIPPs can provide genuine impartial and expert advice include:

The different legal structures of SIPPs and the operational and regulatory implications;

  • The impact of SIPPs on the future shape of the pensions market including the increasingly important at and post retirement markets following the pension freedoms introduced in April 2015.
  • The significance of SIPPs as a catalyst for the growth in the adviser marketplace and the investment platform sector. Understanding these drivers of change and the areas they may influence is important.
  • The customer experience and quality of service are crucial issues for all businesses. This is a particular passion of mine. Through my association with Investor in Customers I can provide access to a process and diagnostic tool that can assist any business in meeting the challenges of customer retention and thereby improving profitability.
  • The growing impact and significance of increasing longevity particularly for providers . The general lack of awareness and understanding amongst most of the population of the implications of old age and the impact on their pensions provision is worrying and the need for more education is important. This is especially true when considering the pensions options at retirement including income drawdown where there is scope for providers and advisers to do so much more.
